We are currently seeking a part-time Paraprofessional at our Centre City School which houses students in grades 1 through 3. This position is available immediately and is for 5.95 hours per day, Monday through Friday, at a rate of $16.81 per hour.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Paraprofessional shall:
- Assist the teacher with classroom instructional tasks as assigned.
- Work with students individually and in small groups to assist with the learning of content and skills introduced by the teacher.
- Assist the teacher with clerical work, record keeping, preparation of instructional materials, set up of learning centers, preparation of displays and bulletin boards, and other non-instructional tasks as assigned.
- Assist the teacher and students with cleanup from activities.
- Assist the teacher with supervision of students.
- Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher.
- Help to facilitate co-op learning groups.
- Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
- Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by teacher.
- Guide independent study, enrichment work and remedial work assigned by the teacher.
- Assist the teacher in the correction and feedback on student work.
- Check notebooks, correct papers and supervise testing and makeup work, as assigned by the teacher.
- Perform clerical duties related to the instructional program including attendance reports, collection of money, duplication of materials and distribution and return of notices to home.
- Help the teacher to plan and maintain bulletin board and other classroom learning displays.
- Participate in inservice training as assigned.
- Read to students, listen to students read and participate in other forms of oral communication with students.
- Help very young children with their clothing, snacktime routine and toileting activities.
- Assist the teacher in the supervision of the students and assume responsibility for taking groups of students to the lavatory, playground, cafeteria or other places in the school.
- Assist the teacher on field trips, cultural arts programs and any other group activities.
- Help with lunch, bus, hallway and playground duty.
- Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
- Redirect a restless or inattentive child into appropriate activities.
- Be sensitive to and assist students with special needs and adjust the instructional tasks as needed.
- Assist the teacher in communicating with parents.
